Why 8 Weeks?

Why 8 Weeks? (And Why You Deserve Every One of Them)

If you've been following along for a while, you've probably seen us talking about Body Well — our 8-week fitness and wellness program. And if you're anything like the moms in our village, your first thought might have been:

"Eight weeks? I can't even commit to finishing a cup of coffee while it's still hot."

We get it. So let's talk about why 8 weeks isn't just an arbitrary number we pulled out of a gym bag — and why saying yes to it might be less about fitness than you think.

Why 8 Weeks, Specifically?

Here's the truth: 30-day challenges are everywhere because they're catchy, not because they work. Real, lasting change — the kind where a workout stops feeling like a chore and starts feeling like yours — takes longer than a month. The landmark research on habit formation, a University College London study that tracked participants building a new daily habit, found it took an average of about 66 days — roughly 9 to 10 weeks — before a behavior started to feel automatic, with plenty of individual variation along the way (Scientific American). Some health researchers now tell patients to simply expect it to take around 10 weeks, so they stay motivated instead of giving up early (PMC).

Eight weeks gives your body enough time to actually adapt — to get stronger, to feel more capable, to notice the difference in how you carry your kid, your groceries, yourself. But just as importantly, it gives you enough time to build a rhythm. One class doesn't change your life. Eight weeks of showing up, even on the days you didn't want to, does.

It's long enough to matter. Short enough to feel doable. That's the sweet spot Body Well is built around.

But Here's What We Really Want You to Hear

Somewhere between the diaper changes, the school pickups, the meal planning, and the mental load nobody put on the calendar but you're carrying anyway — when was the last time something on your schedule was just for you?

Not for your kids. Not for your job. Not for anyone else's to-do list.

That's what Body Well actually is, underneath the workouts and the 8-week structure. It's permission. Permission to take up an hour of your week without guilt. Permission to prioritize your own strength and wellness — not because you have time to spare, but because you matter enough to make time.

You don't need to earn rest, and you don't need to earn movement, either. You just need to show up.

What's Actually Inside Body Well

Here's what the full 8 weeks looks like:

  • 2 live, in-person, closed workouts a week — small group, mom-only, built specifically for where you are in your fitness journey
  • Nutrition coaching, so you're not just moving more, you're fueling your body in a way that actually supports it
  • Accountability, built in — someone in your corner between sessions, not just cheering you on for an hour a week and disappearing
  • A community that notices when you're missing — not in a guilt-trippy way, in a "we saved you a spot in the circle" way

And if your workouts are already dialed in but your nutrition is the missing piece? We've also got you covered — the nutrition coaching and accountability piece is available on its own, no workouts required. Sometimes the fitness part isn't the gap. This lets you fill in exactly what's missing without paying for what you don't need.

That's the village difference. You're not white-knuckling your way through this alone, whichever piece you choose. You've got real support built around you.

Ready When You Are

If you've been on the fence — waiting for the "right time," the easier season, the moment life calms down (spoiler: it doesn't) — consider this your sign.

You don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to start.
