You might come to FIT4MOM because you need a workout.
Maybe you want to get stronger. Maybe you need to move your body after spending the morning negotiating with a toddler. 😂 Maybe you just need to get out of the house and be around other adults who understand what it's like to have a tiny human attached to your hip.
Whatever brings you through the door, there's something else happening while you're here:
Your little one is learning, too.
One of my favorite things about FIT4MOM is that our classes aren't just a place where moms can prioritize their health. They're also a place where babies and kids get to experience connection, music, movement, play, friendships and a community of supportive adults.
You may think you're "just" coming to work out. But those little moments happening around you? They matter.
Your Baby Is Learning From You
From the very beginning, babies are paying attention to the people and environment around them. They're listening to voices. Watching facial expressions. Taking in the way people interact with one another. Learning through repeated experiences and everyday interactions.
So when your baby sits in their stroller and watches you laugh with your FIT4MOM friends, chat with another mom, encourage someone through a tough exercise or celebrate a milestone...
They're experiencing connection.
They're seeing their mama interact with other people in a positive, supportive environment. And honestly? What better way to introduce your little one to the idea of community than by letting them watch you enjoy yours?
Your baby doesn't need you to create some elaborate learning activity every day.
Sometimes learning looks like Mom laughing with her friends while baby watches from the stroller. And that's pretty beautiful.
Those Songs We're Singing? They Matter, Too.
You know the songs we sing in class?
The nursery rhymes. The children's songs. The ones you may have heard approximately 4,000 times already at home? They're doing more than keeping your little one entertained.
Songs, rhymes and repetitive language give young children opportunities to hear patterns, sounds, rhythm and vocabulary. And repetition is a big part of early learning.
When children hear familiar words and phrases over and over again, they're getting repeated exposure to language in a way that is engaging and predictable.
So when we sing the same song again...
And again...
And AGAIN...
You're allowed to roll your eyes a little. 😂
But your little one is listening. They're absorbing sounds, words and patterns.
And eventually, you may notice them starting to anticipate the next part of a song, fill in a word, make a sound or sing along.
That's learning happening through something that feels like play.
Playgroup Is More Than Just Play
This is one of the reasons I love our playgroups so much.
Yes, we're having fun. Yes, there will probably be some snacks involved. And yes, there may be paint somewhere that you will discover three weeks later. 😂
But underneath all of that fun, your little one is getting opportunities to practice so many different skills.
Through songs, stories and hands-on activities, they can explore:
Colors and shapes
Letters and numbers
Fine motor skills
Sensory experiences
Crafts and creative expression
Language and storytelling
Following directions
Problem solving
Social interaction
Playing alongside other children
They're touching, moving, listening, looking, creating and experimenting.
They're also learning how to be around other kids. Maybe they're practicing sharing. Maybe they're watching another child play and deciding they want to join in. Maybe they're learning to wait their turn. Maybe they're simply becoming more comfortable in a group environment.
That's all part of growing
They're Learning That Movement Is Something We Do
And then there's one of my favorite hidden benefits:
They're watching you prioritize movement.
When your little one sees you putting on your workout shoes and heading to class, movement becomes something they see as a normal part of life.
Not punishment.
Not something you have to "earn."
Not something you only do because you don't like your body.
It's something Mom does because it makes her feel strong, energized, happy and connected.
And eventually, they start wanting to be part of it. Our toddlers will literally play "FIT4MOM." They copy the movements. They pretend to lead workouts. They cheer us on. They stretch. They run. They dance.
And while they're playing, they're developing their own relationship with movement.
We also get to be intentional about the messages they hear from us.
You are strong.
You are capable.
You matter.
Your body can do amazing things.
Those messages are important.
We're helping create an environment where children can begin to associate movement with fun, confidence, connection and feeling good.
We're planting little seeds. And we may not see exactly how those seeds grow for years, but that doesn't mean they aren't being planted.
Your Workout Is Part of a Bigger Picture
This is what makes FIT4MOM so much more than a workout class.
It's a place where you get to take care of yourself without putting your child on the sidelines.
Your baby can watch you.
Your child can make friends.
You can make friends.
You can move your body.
You can laugh.
You can learn.
You can build a village.
And your little one gets to experience all of it alongside you.
So yes, come for the workout.
Come for the endorphins.
Come because you desperately need to get out of the house.
Come because your leggings are the only pants you haven't spilled something on yet. 😂
But know that while you're getting stronger, your little one is growing, learning and experiencing their own benefits, too.
And they're learning one of the most important lessons of all:
Taking care of yourself is something worth making time for.
That's the hidden benefit of FIT4MOM.
You aren't just building a stronger you.
You're creating an environment where your little one can grow alongside you.
And that might just be one of the best reasons to keep showing up
